Our 2 bedroom Faulkner Apartment is in Faulkner Street - not in Folly Bridge House. It is for those who want to be even closer to the centre of Oxford.
You are within sight of Christchurch College, the new Westgate Shopping Centre and the fashionable Castle Complex. Yet, it is surprisingly quiet for such a central location, with a cycle path on one side and a cul-de-sac on the other. There are not the open views or elegant architecture of Folly Bridge House but this is compensated for by its epicentral position. The building dates from the 1980s and there is an edgy city centre feel. You can see still the top of the spire of Pembroke College from the sitting room sofa and, when the leaves fall off the trees, Christchurch College's 'Tom Tower' comes into view.
The interiors are designed with a similar artistic blend of ultramodern and antique as Folly Bridge House. It has contemporary artworks on the walls, Persian rugs on the wooden floors and 18th to 21st century furniture.
light and sunny with private parking
Faulkner is on the top floor (second floor) with windows on three sides. It feels light and airy and catches the sun all day.
The sitting room and the spacious master bedroom overlook the communal garden. The second bedroom is small, with a small double bed (4ft) and a fold-down work table. It looks west over the cul-de-sac towards the Westgate Shopping Centre. There is a well-equipped kitchen with oak dining table, fully integrated appliances and stainless steel finish. The kitchen is a food lover’s delight with an array utensils for the serious cook.
The bathroom has wooden floors and a bath and integral shower. Both bedrooms have blackout blinds, as well as curtains, for those who need their sleep. There is super-fast fibre optic broadband and a Flat Screen TV.
Faulkner has off-street private parking for one car.
